The opening ceremony of the 18th Solheim Cup has been and gone, and the captains have announced the first pairings.
Suzann Pettersen and Stacy Lewis, the respective leaders of Team Europe and Team USA, have introduced themselves to the spectators and so have their 12 team members.
Europe is looking to win the Solheim Cup for the third time in a row – something the continent has never done before.
The American team, which contains five rookies, is looking to win away from home for the first time since 2015. As per usual, there is much at stake and there is an exciting week ahead.
The first tee shot will be struck by the USA’s Lexi Thompson at 7.10am (BST) at Finca Cortesin on Friday, September 22 with four foursomes matches going off in 12-minute intervals.
Four fourballs matches will be starting at 12.40pm (BST) after the morning session has concluded.
